This page explains how to delete your DrivePool account and the personal data associated with it. You can delete your account from inside the app, or request deletion here without signing in. Either route removes the same data.
Option 1 — Delete from inside the app
This is the fastest route, and it takes effect immediately.
- Open DrivePool and go to your profile.
- Tap Settings, then Account.
- Tap Delete account and confirm.
If you are the only organizer of a carpool, you will be asked to hand the pool over to another parent or close it before your account can be removed, so that other families are not left without a schedule.
Option 2 — Request deletion here
If you no longer have the app installed or cannot sign in, fill in the form below. It opens your email app with a pre-written request addressed to our support team. We use the email address you give us only to confirm the request and tell you when it is done.
The button opens your email app with the request filled in — nothing is sent until you press send, and this page stores nothing. If your device has no email app set up, use Copy request instead and send it from any email account to contact@drivepool.ca.
What gets deleted
When your account is deleted, we permanently remove the following from our production systems:
- Your name, email address, phone number, and home or pickup address.
- The names and ages of any children you added to your household, and their pickup and drop-off details.
- Any contact names, email addresses, and phone numbers imported from your device's contacts.
- Your carpool membership, drive history, rotation credits, and any drives still scheduled in your name.
- Messages you sent in DrivePool chats, and your message history.
- Data synced from your TeamSnap account, and the link between your DrivePool account and TeamSnap.
- Device push-notification tokens and any location data held for live drive tracking.
What we keep, and for how long
A small amount of information outlives the deletion request, either because the law requires it or because removing it would corrupt records that belong to other families:
- Encrypted backups — deleted data persists in routine backups for up to 90 days, after which those backups expire and the data is gone. It is not restored to a live account during that window.
- Records we are legally required to retain — for example, records relating to a safety incident, a legal claim, or a lawful request from a government or regulatory authority. These are kept only as long as the applicable law requires.
- Billing and tax records — if you ever bought a paid plan, tax and accounting law requires us to keep a record of the transaction after your account is gone. These records cover the purchase itself, not your payment card details, which DrivePool never holds — Apple and Google process payments and we never receive your card number.
- Aggregated, non-identifying statistics— counts such as “drives completed this season” that can no longer be traced back to you or your family.
Messages you sent to a carpool chat may remain visible to the other members of that chat, shown without your name attached. We cannot remove a copy of a message from another person's device.
How long it takes
- Deleting from inside the app takes effect immediately.
- Emailed requests are acknowledged within 5 business days.
- Deletion is completed within 30 days of a verified request, and backups expire within 90 days as described above.
We may ask you to confirm your request from the email address on the account before we act on it. That step exists to stop someone else from deleting your family's account.
Cancel a paid subscription separately
If you have an active DrivePool subscription, deleting your account does not cancel it. Subscriptions are billed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, and only you can cancel them:
- iPhone or iPad: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → DrivePool → Cancel Subscription.
- Android:Google Play → your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → DrivePool → Cancel.
Cancel before you delete your account, otherwise the store will keep billing you for a service you can no longer reach. DrivePool cannot cancel or refund a store subscription for you.
Your TeamSnap account is separate
Deleting DrivePool removes the copy of your TeamSnap data that DrivePool holds and revokes our access to your TeamSnap account. It does not delete your TeamSnap account or anything stored by TeamSnap. To do that, contact TeamSnap directly at teamsnap.com.
Deleting some data without deleting your account
You do not have to delete everything to remove something. From the app you can leave a carpool, remove a child from your household, disconnect TeamSnap, or turn off contact syncing — each of which deletes the related data while your account stays active. If you want a specific piece of data removed and cannot find the control for it, email us and we will handle it.
