DrivePool Data Collection, Use and Privacy
Our commitment to privacy: DrivePool understands that protecting the privacy and confidentiality of your information is important. This Privacy Code governs the collection, use and disclosure of your information in any form, whether written or electronic, by DrivePool. This Privacy Code explains what information may be collected from you, and how it is used. It also describes how you can ask questions, make suggestions, and express concerns about our privacy practices.
This Privacy Code applies only to the information collected by DrivePool. The collection, use and disclosure of your personal information is governed by any and all applicable privacy laws, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (the “Act”), including applicable provincial legislation. DrivePool has access to and the ability to store some of the following personally identifying information in connection with the delivery of our services for our users:
Contact names, email addresses and phone numbers from your device's contacts database. This information is only used by DrivePool to facilitate your communications with team and pool members, and is not shared with any third parties.
Personally identifiable information from the TeamSnap platform, which often includes:
- First Name,
- Last Name,
- Home address: street number, street name, unit number, etc., city, province, postal code, zip code, state, country, etc.
- The names and ages of any of your children using TeamSnap.
The above listed information is only accessible to DrivePool when you allow DrivePool to access your TeamSnap account. The TeamSnap privacy policy may be found on their website www.teamsnap.com. If you have any concerns or questions, we encourage you to contact us at drivepool.ca/support or contact@drivepool.ca and we will address your concerns to the best of our ability. Please read this Privacy Code carefully, and check back periodically as we may update it from time to time.
Technology Utilized
Cookies
DrivePool relies on HTTP cookies to maintain application state and functionality. A cookie is a small file assigned to your Web browser that can store information. If you are concerned about cookies, it is possible to turn them off in your web browser preferences. However, please be aware that by disabling cookies, your web surfing experience will be degraded, and DrivePool may become unusable for you.
Data Disclosure
DrivePool does not disclose, share or sell your Personally Identifiable Data, except in the following cases. Your information may be processed and stored outside of the province in which you reside and/or outside of Canada by us, an affiliate or a third party service provider for the purposes set out in this Privacy Code. An example of this remote data storage and processing is DrivePool's use of the Google Cloud Platform for application hosting and data storage. Under the laws of these other jurisdictions, and in certain circumstances, foreign courts, law enforcement agencies and/or regulatory agencies may be entitled to access your information.
DrivePool may disclose your information to third parties if you have violated our terms of service, or if we need to comply with applicable laws and lawful governmental requests, other legal and regulatory authorities and for other legal reasons.
Advertising
DrivePool does not sell your personal information. We do not display third-party advertising in the app, we do not share your information with advertising networks or data brokers, and we do not use your information to build advertising or marketing profiles. DrivePool contains no third-party advertising or ad-tracking software development kits.
We may publish aggregated statistics about the service as a whole — for example, the total number of drives coordinated in a season. Aggregated statistics contain no personal information and cannot be used to identify you, your children, or your carpool.
Payments and Subscriptions
If DrivePool offers paid features, purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, not by us. Those stores collect and handle your payment details under their own privacy policies. DrivePool never receives or stores your full payment card number, and we do not have access to your payment credentials.
What we do receive from the app store is limited to what we need to give you what you paid for and to support you afterwards: a transaction or receipt identifier, which plan you purchased, whether the subscription is active, and its renewal or expiry date. We use this information only to unlock paid features on your account, to answer billing questions, and to keep the financial records that tax and accounting law requires us to keep.
Billing and tax records are retained for the period required by applicable law even after you delete your account, as described on our account deletion page. These records contain the transaction, not your payment card details.
Data Retention and Deletion
DrivePool retains your personal information only for as long as your account is active, or as long as needed to provide the service and to meet our legal obligations. You can delete your DrivePool account and the personal data associated with it at any time, either from inside the app or by submitting a request on our account deletion page. That page also lists exactly what is deleted, what we are required to retain, and for how long.
In short: deletion removes your profile, your household and children's details, imported contacts, carpool and drive history, messages, and data synced from TeamSnap. Deletion is completed within 30 days of a verified request, and deleted data expires from encrypted backups within 90 days. We may retain records we are legally required to keep, and aggregated statistics that cannot be traced back to you.

Children's Privacy
DrivePool is intended for use by parents, guardians, and other adults who coordinate transportation. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly allow children to create DrivePool accounts.
Information about children — their names, ages, and pickup and drop-off details — is provided by their parent or guardian, or synced from a TeamSnap account controlled by that parent or guardian. It is used only to schedule and coordinate drives, is visible only to the members of the carpools the child belongs to, and is never sold or used to build advertising profiles. A parent or guardian can review, correct, or delete their child's information at any time from the app, or by contacting us at contact@drivepool.ca. If we learn that we have collected information about a child without the involvement of a parent or guardian, we delete it.
